Brewtown Newtown

Once you see T2, that’s the street you should be turning onto. So we arrived at Brewtown Newtown at around 10.45am and was advised the waiting time would be an hour. Considering this is so highly rated right now, we decided to deal with the waiting time. Waiting times are usually not so bad but here, we were waiting right at the stairs where the staff would carry trays of cronuts pass us! It was so hard to contain our hunger seeing the numerous trays of cronuts! Yep, Brewtown Newtown cronuts are currently the talk of the town! I actually first thought it was going to be another overrated place but after digging into one, I can only say- amazing!

The dining space is quite huge but even so, it’s probably not going to be able to accommodate extreme busy periods in a short amount of time.

Considering I don’t drink coffee, I decided to go for a healthy option this time instead of the usual hot chocolate (FYI the above coffee belonged to my companion). I decided to try the Herbal Infusion $4.50 which sounded perfect for the chilly weather. The ‘heal‘ herbal infusion drink contained lemongrass, ginger, mint & fennel seeds. You also get a bit of honey to mix into the drink which was really enjoyable. Adds a bit of a sweet flavour to the tea.

Everything on the menu looked pretty healthy to have with very salivating descriptions. I decided to have the crispy fried blue eye cod with spinach, chorizo and house cut chunk chips. I was a bit worried it was going to be oily and dry. A pretty unhealthy choice for a Sunday but decided to do it! To my surprise, it was really well cooked. It wasn’t oily and the spinach was really good as a combination with the fish instead of the common salad you tend to have. I think after this dish, I’d probably prefer any fried fish and chips with spinach! It was a lot tastier for me than the usual salad you have.

All cronuts ordered to eat there were $4.50 each. When taking away the cronuts, it costs $5 each (based on the assumption I paid $10 for 2). Even so, it’s still soo worth it !

Cinnamon cronut

The cinnamon cronut was definitely a lot sweeter than I expected. This was most probably because it wasn’t just topped with cinnamon but also sprinkles of sugar.

The chocolate cronut, definitely the sweetest of them all but still quite delicious considering the crunch it gave.

It’s pretty huge to finish off in one go! But looking at it is just so mouthwatering. This picture shows how huge and crispy it is. I bought 2 cronuts for take away and ate them around 4 hours later and they were still crispy as! It still tasted so good! So worth it!

this is how huge it is! Deliciously huge

    • Hi Delectably Degusting!

I didn’t know they had it either till I went to the counter to get some for take away and only then I noticed they had the chocolate ones! Definitely worth going back for 🙂

  1. These cronuts keep on popping everywhere!! I haven’t been to Brewtown Newtown yet, but this definitely puts it in my urgent wish list!! Love the last pic, it looks like your cronut (and the plate underneath) is levitating (Yeah, my sugar level must be low haha!)
