First time trying savoury food at What The Fudge and it was actually better than I expected.
These were surprisingly delicious. The melting of the cheese on the fries with the small bacon bits was really nice. Chips were probably a little bit too oily but for $8, it’s pretty good value. Mayo did well to accompany the chips.
This is sort of a modern remake of the classic Caesar salad. Accompanying the chicken and croutons was a creamy salad dressing which made the salad a lot better than the typical ones. I think it’s a pretty decent size for $12 considering how large the portion. As you can see, the top layer was the only part with chicken, bacon and croutons. There was maybe a little bit too much salad. Perhaps mixing the salad would’ve been better.
Whenever I’m here, I always go for ice-cream but this time, I decided to try something which is usually sold out fast on weekends- the deep fried golden gaytime!
Let’s just say this is one of those perfect moments where you wish you had not had dinner earlier and was just fed on this for the night. It was so satisfying with a very crunchy pastry on the outside, and a standard golden gaytime. It’s definitely a clever idea because of the crunch of the golden gaytime ice-cream so no matter what, you’ll always have that crunch on the inside. But what was great was that it wasn’t just the inside, the outside was extremely crunchy; hence very fulfilling.
If you’re keen to try this in particular, be sure to visit on a weeknight rather than a weekend because according to the staff, there isn’t enough supplies of the golden gaytimes on weekends so avoid the disappointment!
The oozing of the ice-cream!
The next dessert wasn’t as satisfying as the first for sure. The combination was a bit strange. Sometimes with these combinations, there’s just too much going on. Jackfruit definitely didn’t deserve to be there, and the whipped cream was very plain. Good whipped cream tends to be sweet but this one just had no flavour, so I would’ve preferred to not have any whipped cream.
There were 2 scoops of ice-cream: pandan and green-tea. I’m a huge fan of green-tea but I will admit, pandan beats green-tea any day. The pandan ice-cream was a die for. It was just perfect.
What the Fudge? doesn’t just sell these huge dessert dishes, but also scoops of ice-cream and other special waffle dishes. So if you’re keen for some good ice-cream, definitely give the pandan a try! You’ll love it!
What can I say? It’s melted chocolate with strawberries, banana and marshmallows. Chocolate is always delicious! Definitely one of the most common dishes ordered at What The Fudge.
As well as this store at Canley Heights, there’s also one at Cabramatta as well!
